Album

Does It Look Like I'm Here is a 2010 album from the band Emeralds. It contains a mix of tracks previously released as 7-inch singles and new material. Pitchfork placed it at number 36 on its list of The Top 50 Albums of 2010, and number 139 on its list of The 200 Best Albums of the 2010s. Does It Look Like I'm Here contains the same new age, krautrock and kosmische styles that were a part of their previous albums. However, in the words of journalist Derek Miller, it is much more sharp, concise. Twig and Twine. The Green Kingdom. Halcyon Digest. But Does It Look Like I'm Here is the first Emeralds record you might be able to call pretty. Listeners accustomed to the multi-vectored force of last year's What Happened, with its crush of competing swells, might initially be taken aback by the linear progressions here. Emeralds also finally seem to be playing actual notes, not just dialing in frequencies. That's still true here, but most of the album's tracks are built around arpeggiated backbones, bubbling sequences in 8th, 12th, or 16th note formations that focus the music's energy in a directed stream. It Doesn't Arrive 11. Now You See Me 12. It sees the group moving from playing single oscillator analog synthesizers to really complex analog and analogdigital hybrid as well a great deal of guitar synthesizers, not to mention fine tuning th. There are all kinds of familiar elements at work on Emeralds' third album, and those elements will be especially familiar to anyone who was listening to avant pop electronic music in the 1970s. The slightly cheesy-sounding keyboard arpeggiations, the waveform generators, the sweet-and-sour analog synth sounds - these are all basic elements of the earliest synthesized pop and synthesized classical music. Listen free to Emeralds Does It Look Like I'm Here Candy Shoppe, The Cycle of Abuse and more. 12 tracks 61:45. Learn more. Recent Listening Trend. At its strongest, Does It Look LIke I'm Here succeeds with tracks such as The Cycle of Abuse and Goes By, accomplishing little but working as soothing ambient tracks. The title track and Genetic show Emeralds formula applied in its worst format, creating quasi-shoegaze soundscapes out of sounds that are disjointed and cheap. Emeralds most recent isn't an offensive record with low volume and little attention, it's delicate mood music. However to treat it as an album leaves the listener in confusion with overblown blurs and textural nonsense. Find out more about our use of this data, and also our policy on profanity. Find out more about our use of this data. Its an album full of such totems, monuments functioning as signposts for cosmonauts whore perilously close to losing their way in the purple fug. McGuires guitar is also positioned to the fore, his series of pirouetting arcs on Genetic recalling Michael Rothers casting off of incendiary confections during his stints with both Neu and Harmonia supplementary flares of salvation for the nearly damned

Reviews of the Emeralds - Does It Look Like I'm Here? (1):
Rainshaper
I have both the first and second press of this album and there's also a difference between the gatefold jackets, one is printed on glossy and the other is on non-glossy.
